Israel Adesanya Puts Jon Jones Fight On Backburner: "I'm Going Back Down To 185"

Israel Adesanya is putting a bloodfeud with Jon Jones on the backburner for now.

Adesanya was humble in defeated after losing a unanimous decision ot UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz (49-46, 49-45, 49-45) at UFC 259 on Saturday. The UFC middleweight titleholder plans to return to his 185 kingdom for the forseeable future. While "Stylebender" was optimisic about an eventual return to light heavyweight, he seemed focus on ruling his own division.

Speaking with press at the UFC 259 post-fight presser, Adesanya was asked about a timeline for a fight with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

"Never say never. Never say never," Adesanya told reporters at the UFC 259 post-fight press conference (h/t Chisanga Malata). "But right now, I'm going back down to 185 and getting my work done... But fuck that n---a anyway."

Blachowicz handed Adesanya his first professional mixed martial arts loss at UFC 259. While scorecards generally ranged from 4-1 Blachowicz to 3-2 Adesanya, most were in agreement that 10-8 rounds in the fifth for Blachowicz were excessive.
