Israil Madrimov Signs Co-Promotional Deal With Matchroom Boxing

Days before his second pro fight, Israil Madrimov has a new promotional home.

Madrimov has signed a co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing USA as he is about to defend his WBA Intercontinental junior middleweight title on March 9. Madrimov will take on 26-fight veteran Frank Rojas on the undercard of the DAZN card in Verona, New York.

The 24-year-old Madrimov came into the pro ranks as a highly-decorated amateur fighter from Uzbekistan, having been a two-time Asian Games gold medalist. Madrimov’s pro debut took place last November in Atlantic City, New Jersey where he got a TKO victory over Vladimir Hernandez.

“I'm very happy that Matchroom Boxing will be part of my team in addition to my promoter World of Boxing,” said Madrimov in a press release. “I know that they both have my best interests and will work for me to fight for a World title in the near future. I’m very excited to get back in the ring this Saturday and grateful to Matchroom Boxing USA, World of Boxing and my team for this opportunity. I can’t wait to put on a show for the fans.”

The DAZN card will be headlined by a WBA light heavyweight title fight between Dmitry Bivol and Joe Smith Jr. Also on the card is WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice Hooker defending his world title against Mikkel LesPierre. Hooker recently spoke to Fightful about the matchup and his plans to defend his title in Dallas in June and that article, with the full interview, can be read at this link.
