Jack Marshmann Relinquishes CWFC Middleweight Title; Signs With UFC

Jack Marshmann is no longer the Cage Warriors Fighting Championships Middleweight Champion, as he has signed with the UFC.

Marshmann will be making his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 99, where he will be taking on Magnus Cedenblad.

Marshmann was set to defend the middleweight title at Cage Warriors 79 against Andreas Michailidis, which has since been called off. The title has been declared vacant by Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan, a new champion will be determined at a future event.

Boylan also issued a statement to the media regarding the UFC signing the promotion's now former middleweight champion.

“Many have said this is long overdue, as Jack has been at the top of his game for a while, and so he leaves with our best wishes,” Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan stated. “He has been a fantastic ambassador for this sport and for us.”

Michailidis is expected to compete on next week’s Cage Warriors 79 event, an opponent has yet to be named by the promotion. The new main event for Cage Warriors 79 will be a lightweight division contest pitting Martin Svensson against Scott Clist.

Cage Warriors 79 takes place on Saturday, October 15th from the Newport Centre in Newport, Wales with Scott Clist and Martin Svensson headlining.

UFC Fight Night 99 will be taking place on Saturday, November 19th from the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland with Dong Hyun Kim and Gunnar Nelson headlining.
