Jaime Munguia vs. Dennis Hogan Conference Call Highlights

Jaime Munguia and Dennis Hogan share their thoughts on a number of topics ahead of their WBO junior middleweight title defense on April 13.

The two fighters joined in a conference call and talked about their matchup, taking place in Monterrey, Mexico and spoke about the fight, their desire to walk out of Mexico as the world champion and Munguia's potential future as a middleweight.

Below are some interesting notes from the conference call:

  • Munguia said the plan is for him to move up to middleweight eventually, perhaps either in his next fight near the end of 2019 or make the jump starting in 2020. Munguia added that he is still comfortable making 154 pounds.
  • On the subject of a potential fight against Gennady Golovkin, Munguia said he was ready to face him last year when his name was brought up as a potential opponent for him this past May and now he feels more than ready to fight Golovkin if the opportunity presents itself.
  • Ticket sales are going extremely well, according to Golden Boy Promotions COO Robert Gaspari. The fight could see a potential sellout at this pace.
  • Hogan said he is more than ready to win the WBO junior middleweight title and that he is hungrier than ever to become a world champion.

Below are highlights compiled by Fightful lead boxing reporter Carlos Toro.

Munguia vs. Smith will headline a boxing card at Arena Monterrey on April 13 with DAZN set to stream the fight live in the United States.
