James Vick Meeting With UFC Brass About New Contract

MMA

Lightweight competitor James Vick is coming off of a first round knockout win over Marco Polo Reyes at UFC 211.

That fight was the last on his UFC contract and he’s going to be meeting with the owners of the UFC to discuss a new deal.

Unranked UFC Fighters to Watch out for in 2024

“I’m about to be a household name,” Vick told MMA Junkie Radio. “I spoke to the UFC’s new PR lady in the back for probably a good 30 minutes after the fight, and she was very receptive with everything I had to say. I’m flying to the fighter’s retreat this weekend, and I’m going to sit down with them. She’s going to put me in front of a lot of the (WME-IMG) people and see if they have some good ideas for me. So I’m excited about that, and she already told me she’s going to fly me out to a couple of events and let me do some appearances.”

Vick earned a record of 7-1-0 under the UFC banner and his lone loss came to top 15 ranked lightweight Beneil Dariush.

Another thing that Vick may be talking about with the UFC brass is the bonus system, something he doesn’t quite understand.

“I don’t understand what the hell I have to do to get a bonus,” Vick said. “That’s definitely favoritism. I really don’t get it. But I’m not worried about it.”

The win for Vick at UFC 211 came in his home state of Texas, as the event took place at the America Airlines Center in Dallas.
