Jermall Charlo vs. Brandon Adams Announced For June 29 On Showtime

Middleweight contender Jermall Charlo will return home to Houston for his next fight.

Premier Boxing Champions announced that Charlo, the interim WBC middleweight titleholder, will face Brandon Adams in the main event of a Showtime-televised card on June 29 from the NRG Arena.

Charlo will look to remain active as he continues to wait for a potential title fight against Canelo Alvarez, who holds the full WBC title. Charlo, a former IBF junior middleweight world champion, last fought in December 2018 when he defeated Matt Korobov by unanimous decision.

Adams returned to the sport of boxing after a three-year hiatus to compete in the latest season of "The Contender." Adams advanced all the way to the finals last year when he would dominate Shane Mosley Jr. to win the tournament.

Also announced for the card is a WBC junior middleweight title eliminator between Erickson Lubin and Zakaria Attou and will serve as the co-main event bout of hte telecast. The winner of the fight could eventually land a shot at the WBC belt currently being held by Tony Harrison, who is defending his title against Jermell Charlo on June 23.

Another title eliminator will also take place on the main card as Eduardo Ramirez and Claudio Marrero will face off in a WBA featherweight title eliminator. Ramirez won the WBA Gold title back in March when he defeated he stopped Bryan De Gracia. Marrero, a former interim WBA featherweight titleholder, is coming off a loss to Tugstsogt Nyambayar in January in an IBO title fight.
