Jermall Charlo vs. Dennis Hogan Announced For December 7 In Brooklyn

Jermall Charlo will close out the year in the same venue that he closed out 2018.

Showtime announced that Charlo will defend his WBC middleweight title against former junior middleweight title contender Dennis Hogan on December 7. The fight will headline a Showtime telecast with the undercard yet to be officially announced.

Charlo returns to the Barclays Center where he fought in December 2018, headlining a PBC on FOX card in an interim WBC middleweight title fight against Matt Korobov. Originally, Charlo was supposed to face Willie Monroe Jr., but Monroe failed a drug test before the fight and so, Korobov stepped in to fight Charlo, but lost the bout by unanimous decision.

Since then, Charlo saw his status as the interim WBC champion to sole WBC champion after Canelo Alvarez was given the Franchise Champion tag from the governing body. In his first middleweight world title defense, Charlo defeated Brandon Adams by unanimous decision on a Showtime card in June.

Hogan is coming into the fight after losing a controversial decision to WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia back in April. The fight was so controversial that the WBO had an independent panel of five judges take a look at the fight and score it individually, but the WBO upheld the final result after the panel collectively scored Munguia as the winner.
