Jerry Lawler Compares Scott Coker And Vince McMahon

Jerry Lawler says Scott Coker reminds him of Vince McMahon.

He appeared on The MMA Hour on Monday to talk about Bellator 162. The professional wrestling legend has been doing promotional work for Bellator 162 because the event is in Lawler's hometown of Memphis Tennessee. He discussed why he got involved in mixed-martial arts.

"I've been a big MMA fan for a long time, especially with the crossover of different guys from WWE, Brock Lesnar, of course Bobby Lashley, and going all the way back to Ken Shamrock and different guys like that. I guess that natural tie-in sorta heighten my interest in it. But, up into just recently I was approached by the people from Bellator. I guess 162 is going to be in Memphis," said Lawler.

Lawler believes he was approached by Bellator because they saw an opportunity with having the card in his hometown of Memphis and professional wrestler Bobby Lashley fighting on the card. During the broadcast, Lawler was seen embracing Lashley. Lawler went on to talk about the similarities between Bellator President Scott Coker and Vince McMahon.

"Scott Coker, the President of Bellator MMA reminds me so much of Vince McMahon, especially recently with the new signings that he's doing. We had the brand split, we've got Raw and SmackDown Live separated now, and they're calling this a new era, bringing in all of these young guys and young women from NXT, which is their new training facility. All these guys are making that jump. It's the same thing with Bellator. A ton of new guys have been signed by Scott Coker. It reminds me so much of the same type of building up the same type enthusiasm, and the fans there at Bellator, that we have in WWE," said Lawler.

Bellator 162 was Friday. Jerry Lawler was cage side in the crowd. Fightful.com held a viewing party and has the results.

Lawler can currently be seen on Raw, Smackdown Live and pay-per-view pre-shows. Some of the quotes above are transcribed at WrestlingINC.com
