Jessica Andrade kicked off the main card of UFC Fight Night 104 by defeating Invicta Fighting Championships Strawweight Champion Angela Hill by decision.
Despite the fact that the championship wasn’t on the line, Andrade now believes she is now the Invicta FC Strawweight Champion.
“I think by beating Angela today, I became Invicta champ,” Andrade said to MMA Junkie. “So I want to unify my belts. I want the opportunity to fight Joanna. Joanna, do you want a fight? I’m here. April, May, June – it doesn’t matter the date. I’m ready. I’ll fight you no matter what happens.”
Andrade is now the next opponent for UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion in Joanna Jedrzejczyk, but a date for the fight has yet to be set. UFC President Dana White stated that Andrade/Hill was the best female MMA fight he has ever seen, something Andrade agrees with.
“It was an incredible fight,” Andrade said. “I didn’t imagine that Angela would be able to take so many shots, and I was able to give it my best. I could have taken the fight to the ground. I could have submitted (her), but I wanted to strike. It was an incredible fight. I can only be thankful.”
Andrade is now undefeated in the women’s strawweight division, having defeated Hill, Jessica Penne and Joanne Calderwood.
