Jessie Vargas vs. Thomas Dulorme Now For WBC Silver Title

Some stakes have been added to the main event of Matchroom Boxing USA's first card streamed on DAZN.

It has been announced that the main event of the October 6 Matchroom Boxing card on DAZN, a welterweight bout between former world champion Jessie Vargas vs. Thomas Dulorme, will now be for the WBC Silver title. Not only is the title on the line, but the winner will also be the mandatory challenger to Shawn Porter's WBC world title.

The added stipulation gives Vargas, currently the No. 3 welterweight ranked by the WBC, a shot to put himself in position to fight for a world title for the first time since 2016. Vargas previously held the WBO welterweight title but lost the belt to Manny Pacquiao on pay-per-view in late 2016 in Vargas' first title defense.

With the winner of Vargas vs. Dulorme, Porter has a number of challengers for his next couple of fights. Not only will Porter have a mandatory challenger set soon, but also Yordenis Ugas, who also won a title eliminator against Cesar Barrionuevo recently. Keith Thurman, who vacated the title earlier this year, is also given a guaranteed shot at the title when he is fully healthy and ready after being out of action since March 2017 due to multiple injuries.

The October 6 card from Chicago will also feature two world title fights on the undercard. Artur Beterbiev will defend his IBF light heavyweight title against Callum Johnson and Daniel Roman will also defend his WBA super bantamweight title against Gavin McDonnell on the undercard.
