Jhack Tepora, Marlon Tapales Announced For June 1 PBC On FS2 Card

PBC announced a number of fights that will be televised on FS1 and FS2 as support for the main event bout on June 1.

The company announced a prelim card on FS2 that will serve as the lead-in to the FS1 main card. The two matchups announced for the FS2 portion of the card are Jhack Tepora vs. Jose Luis Gallegos in a 10-round featherweight fight and Marlon Tapales vs. Roberto Castaneda in a 10-round super bantamweight fight.

Rose Namajunas eyes flyweight glory

Tepora, a former interim WBA featherweight titleholder, is unbeaten but lost his belt on the scales back in January before a title defense against Hugo Ruiz. Tepora not only lost his title, but lost his fight on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrien Broner pay-per-view card as he was replaced by Alberto Guevara, whom Ruiz would beat by unanimous decision.

Gallegos is a 24-year-old fighter from Chicago who sports a 16-6 pro record. Gallegos has not won a fight since April 2018 as he is entering this fight on a two-bout losing streak, last competing on March 23 when he was knocked out by Erick De Leon.

Tapales once held the WBO bantamweight title but has since then moved up in weight after coming in overweight for a title defense against Shohei Omori. Tapales has only fought twice since the start of 2018 and won both fights from inside the distance.

Castaneda, a former WBC FECARBOX super bantamweight title challenger, once had a period where in his in-ring success was very inconsistent. Before taking a near three-year break from the sport, Castaneda had won just four of his 14 fights taking place between 2012 and 2015. Since coming back, Castaneda has a 1-1-1 record with his last fight being a majority draw against Tyler McCreary back in March.

PBC also announced another fight that has been added to the FS1 main card. Undefeated heavyweight prospect Onoriode Ehwarieme will take on Rodney Hernandez in an eight-round matchup. The main event of the FS1 card is a 10-round welterweight matchup between Devon Alexander and Ivan Redkach.
