Jimmie Rivera Wants To Retire Dominick Cruz

MMA

Jimmie Rivera hasn?t been heard from much since he pulled out of a fight against Marlon Vera at UFC Fight Night 103.

Rivera is back and he has some plans for the future.

"My goal now is to fight Dominick Cruz and become the next title challenger,? he said to Olimpo MMA. ?He better prepare because I'm coming to destroy his pride and retire him just like I did with Faber."

Rivera also took the time to explain his side of the UFC Fight Night 103 fiasco.

"I made that decision because that fight wouldn't help and wouldn't get me closer to the belt,? Rivera said. ?That's my goal in the UFC. I never wanted to be just another UFC fighter. I want to be a champion. Dodson was another option, but he wouldn't get me any closer either. Had he won his last fight, that would be a different story. I have four wins in four fights in the UFC. The only person with a streak bigger than mine is Cody Garbrandt, so it makes sense that we should fight, but he's already booked to face TJ Dillashaw, so the next best thing would be for me to face Dominick Cruz, since he's number one in the rankings."

Rivera has won all four of his fights in the UFC, with those four victories coming over Marcus Brimage, Pedro Munhoz, Iuri Alcantara and Urijah Faber.
