Joanna Jedrzejczyk Says She Is Too Good For Women’s Strawweight Division

MMA

There have only been two Women’s Strawweight champions in the history of the division. The first was Carla Esparza and the second is Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who believes she is too good for the current crop of female strawweights in the UFC.

“I’m strong and I’m too good for all of them,” Jedrzejczyk said during the UFC 205 open workouts. “I’m trying to be focused every day. There’s no option and there will be no excuses. I’m trying to be a smart athlete and train hard every day to be the best and be an undefeated champion.”

While Joanna may feel like she is too good for the division, she still has a big challenge ahead of her in Karolina Kowalkiewiecz at UFC 205. The two met in an amateur fight over four years ago, which Joanna won, but the two fighters are very different than they were in their amateur days.

“I’m different, she’s different,” Jedrzejczyk said. “It was four years ago, amateur competition. I became champion, defended my title three times. This will be the fourth time. She’s different, it will be a different fight. I’m strong and I’m too good for all of them.”

UFC 205 takes place on Saturday, November 12 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor headlining.
