Joe Joyce Signs With Queensberry Promotions, Next Fight Set For May 18

Rising heavyweight contender Joe Joyce has signed with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions one day after it was revealed Joyce is slated to fight one of Warren's top prospects in Daniel Dubois later this year.

Warren made the announcement on social media with a press conference that followed soon afterwards. Joyce, under a co-promotional deal with Ringstar Sports and Queensberry Promotions, will have his next fight on May 18 on the undercard of Billy Joe Saunders vs. Shefat Isufi.

Joyce won the WBA Gold heavyweight title with a dominant performance against Bermane Stiverne back in February at the O2 Arena. Joyce stopped Stiverne in the sixth round to win the Gold title and retain his Commonwealth title on the undercard of James DeGale vs. Chris Eubank Jr.

Since then, Joyce has set his sights on a potential showdown against Dubois later this year and the British Boxing Board of Control pushed the match to be a reality. Weeks ago, the BBBofC ordered Joyce and Dubois to fight for the British heavyweight title that was vacated by Hughie Fury and both sides have agreed to a deal for later this year. No specific details on the title fight, other than the fact that Warren will promote it, have yet to be officially revealed.

The May 18 card is set to take place at Lamex Stadium in Stevenage in the United Kingdom. The main event bout of Saunders vs. Isufi is currently slated to be for the interim WBO super middleweight title.
