Joe Lauzon Doesn’t Want Marcin Held To Get Released

Joe Lauzon earned himself a split decision victory over Marcin Held at UFC Fight Night 103, but admitted that he lost the fight and Held should’ve walked away victorious.

Held has lost both of his bouts in the UFC (other loss came to Diego Sanchez) and Lauzon believes that the Bellator MMA veteran shouldn’t be released by the UFC.

“I was in his shoes last time, and he’s coming over from Bellator, and they match him up with Diego (Sanchez), he has a tough outing at altitude, and then I think he gets screwed on a decision (against me). That’s supper crappy. That’s a really bad start, 0-2, and he’s really good. I’ll be harassing (UFC matchmaker) Sean Shelby, (saying), ‘You’ve got to keep that guy around. He’s really, really good’,” Lauzon said to MMA Junkie.

Lauzon, while admitting that he felt he lost the bout to Held, also was critical of his performance inside of the octagon.

“I thought it sucked before when I thought I won a fight and I lost,” Lauzon said. “This is worse. This sucks. It’s great that I got the win money, but I 100 percent thought he won the fight. Honestly, I feel guilty.”

Held, while winless under the UFC banner, has previously challenged for the Bellator MMA Lightweight Title, losing to now UFC-fighter Will Brooks.
