John Kavanagh Says He Hasn’t Spoken With Conor McGregor Since UFC 229 Loss

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor suffered a fourth round submission loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229.

John Kavanagh has been McGregor’s coach for awhile now and was in his corner for the bout at UFC 229.

However, since the conclusion of the bout against Nurmagomedov, no contact has been made between McGregor and Kavanagh.

“The honest answer is I don’t know. I haven’t actually spoken to him, I haven’t really seen him since the fight,” Kavanagh said on the True Gordie podcast. “I’ve hit the ground running, got so much on. He’s doing his whiskey tours of the world. It’s sold out, it’s crazy. I don’t know, you’re going to ask me to get into the mind of another human, and I just can’t do it. He said what he said and you’d have to get him as your next guest, fingers crossed, and ask him.”

The two have had minor issues before, as Kavanagh admitted awhile back that he had little contact with McGregor in the lead up to UFC 196.

McGregor hasn’t commented on the relationship with Kavanagh since UFC 229, as the fighter is currently dealing with the ramifications of the UFC 229 post-fight brawl with Nurmagomedov. There is no word on when McGregor is going to be returning to action or if Kavanagh is going to be in the corner when that bout occurs.
