Gunnar Nelson earned a second round submission victory over Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night 107.
John Kavanagh, the head trainer for Nelson, wants to see his charge face Stephen Thompson.
Kavanagh made the pitch for the fight on Twitter:
Thompson hasn’t competed since twice challenging for the UFC Welterweight Title, fighting champion Tyron Woodley to a draw at UFC 205 and then suffering a decision loss to Woodley in the rematch at UFC 209.
Assuming the fight does come together down the line, the Icelandic native will be entering the fight on a two fight winning streak, with those wins coming over the aforementioned Alan Jouban and Albert Tumenov.
