Jon Jones has agreed to attend anger management classes to resolve two misdemeanor charges against him.
Jones pleaded not guilty to assault (petty misdemeanor) and interference with the communication (misdemeanor) in July stemming from a March incident with a representative from Drug Free Sport International.
The two charges will be dismissed if he completes four hours of treatment and stays out of legal trouble for 90 days.
Crystal Martinez was sent to Jones’ home to procure a sample from the UFC champion. She alleged that Jones threatened her and confiscated her phone. Martinez claimed that she was threatened when Jones allegedly told her, “Why do you fucking people come so early? Do you know what happens to people who come to my house? They end up dead.” She believed Jones was intoxicated.
Jones denied the allegations. He admitted to using foul language, but claimed no threats were made.
Jones gave the following statement after the hearing:
I would like to extend my thanks to the justice system for reaching a prompt resolution in this matter, which affirms my innocence and enables me to maintain my focus on the upcoming fight. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to defend my heavyweight title on November 16th at Madison Square Garden.
Jones is set to defend his UFC Heavyweight Title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 on November 16.
