Jon Jones Has No Interest In Fighting, Prepared For A Long Layoff

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones hasn?t competed since defeating Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC 247.

It appears that UFC 247 could be the last time Jones fights, as Jones says he doesn?t plan on fighting for a while.

?I don?t want to fight soon,? Jones said on Steve-O?s Wild Ride (via Dave Doyle of MMA Junkie). ?I have no interest in fighting in the UFC until I get paid what I believe I?m worth.?

Jones and UFC President Dana White have been involved in an ongoing feud over the alleged amount of money Jones asked for to fight Francis Ngannou.

The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion also knows that he has a platform to help make changes when it comes to fighter pay in the UFC.

?I?m not asking for anything outrageous, and I know we?re in a pandemic, and I know when you?re a multimillionaire and you?re asking for more, it makes you seem like this greedy person,? Jones said. ?I?m very aware of all of this, but I?m also very aware that I have the voice and the platform to make change. Most of the guys who are doing the absolute worst are not in the position that they can say publicly, ?I have a second job, I?m borrowing money from my parents.? I know so many fighters who are living in the Jackson Wink MMA gym because they can?t afford to have their own apartment, and they?re UFC fighters. So this is sad.?

There has been no comment from the UFC yet as to what plans they would have for the light heavyweight division in case of an extended absence from Jones.
