Jon Jones Says USADA Doesn’t Make Mistakes, And He's Innocent

MMA

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones faces Alexander Gustafsson for the vacant title in the main event of UFC 232.

Jones is back in action for the first time since serving a USADA issued suspension in line with UFC 214, but Jones says his innocence was proven because USADA doesn?t make mistakes.

?I think what you do is you look at the science,? said Jones on ESPN First Take. ?Instead of judging and saying, ?Oh well, this guy?s lying,? because he?s always been a winner, you look at the science. And USADA is a credible drug-testing agency; they always have been. They?ve tested Lance Armstrong and lots of great athletes, the highest level athletes throughout history, and they don?t make mistakes. So the fact that I?m here back fighting is because they don?t mistakes, and I was able to be proven innocent.?

The former light heavyweight champion has failed two drug tests in his professional MMA career, with the other happening before UFC 200.

Even with two failed drug tests, one thing that Jones is ready to declare is that he is the best fighter in the world.

?I am the best fighter in the sport,? Jones said. ?I always have been the best fighter in the sport. Nothing?s changed, so I should perform exactly the way that I?ve always.?

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
