Jon Jones Would Rather Fight Brock Lesnar Instead Of Daniel Cormier

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is defending the gold against Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC 235.

When it comes to potential future opponents, one person that Jones would like to fight is former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar instead of current UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.

“I’d take Brock Lesnar,” Jones said at the UFC 235 media day (via MMA Junkie). “I’d take Brock Lesnar because he brings in a whole different audience and people have already seen me make ‘DC’ cry twice already. I’ve got nothing against that guy. Let him have his heavyweight dominance.”

Jones has already fought Cormier twice, defeating him at UFC 182 and fighting DC to a no contest at UFC 214 due to a failed drug test.

The light heavyweight champion feels that it is worth it to face Lesnar instead of DC, especially if he is moving up a weight class.

“The reason why I think it would cost more for me is because Daniel Cormier is considered by most people, by some people I should say, as the greatest of all-time,” Jones said. “And to fight the greatest of all-time when he’s weighing 30 pounds more than me, it’s dangerous no matter who you are. I want to make it worth my while because ultimately my health is on the line.”

UFC 235 takes place tonight from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Anthony Smith headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
