Jorge Masvidal Says Colby Covington Does Whatever He Wants

MMA

Welterweight fighter Colby Covington has found himself at the center of controversy again after getting into a physical altercation with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum at a hotel in Sydney, Australia.

Jorge Masvidal is a friend and teammate of the controversial fighter, but he says that Covington will always do whatever he wants in the end.

?Colby?s Colby. That?s my partner,? said Masvidal at a UFC Fight Night Sydney media event. ?He?s going to do whatever he wants. He?s not going to definitely listen to me. He?s crazy.?

Covington has since been sent home after the incident by the UFC, while Werdum is fighting Marcin Tybura in the main event of UFC Fight Night Sydney.

Masvidal also hopes that the negative attention his teammate got doesn?t spill over onto him.

?It?s crazy, because I don?t want to be starting more bad press for my sport and getting fines,? Masvidal said. ?So, in a way, I?m glad that (I wasn?t there). I don?t want to be part of the chaos. I?m not going to run from it. If there?s a fight, and somebody?s picking it with me, well, that?s what I love to do. So, f*ck it. Might have to do a free one here and there. But I don?t want to, though. I don?t want to get in trouble. I don?t want no extra negative media on me.?

The welterweight fighter in Covington first got involved in some controversy a few weeks back when he called the people of Brazil ?filthy animals.?
