Jorge Masvidal Withdraws From UFC 269 Bout Against Leon Edwards Due To An Injury

Despite not being a title fight, Leon Edwards vs Jorge Masvidal was arguably the most anticipated bout on the entire UFC 268 card which will be headlined by Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title.

Unfortunately, the bout has now been cancelled as Masvidal has suffered an injury.

The UFC's Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell broke the news to ESPN earlier today.

News about what injury Masvidal has suffered is undisclosed and it is also not known whether or not the bout will be completely abandoned or rescheduled for a later date when Masvidal is fit and ready to go.

This news will come as a huge disappointment to all MMA fans as we have been waiting for the grudge match between Masvidal and Edwards since 2019 when they had that infamous altercation backstage where Masvidal hit Edwards with a "three-piece and a soda."

There has been no word as of yet if Edwards will remain on the card or fight somebody else soon. Edwards has had huge difficulty finding fights since the beginning of the pandemic due to travel restrictions and injuries to his scheduled opponents.
