Karolina Kowalkiewicz Wants Strawweight Title Rematch In Poland

MMA

Karolina Kowalkiewicz lost a unanimous decision to UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205, but there was a moment in the fourth round where the challenger nearly finished the champion with strikes. She wants a shot to do that again.

While Kowalkiewicz was thrilled to be fighting in Madison Square Garden she would like a rematch with the champ and she would like it to take place in Poland -- their native land.

“I was so close (to finishing the fight), I know it,” Kowalkiewicz said at the post-event press conference. “I think she didn’t expect that I am so tough. I feel really good. I’m a little bit sad and angry because I was so close during this fight. But I feel good. It was a good fight. I do what I love, so it’s OK. I am part of something big. And this is something amazing. The energy from these people is something great. I’ll beat her next time, rematch in Poland.”

UFC President Dana White said a fight between Kowalkiewicz and former title challenger Claudia Gadelha could be on the slate for the company.

The UFC does not have an event scheduled in Poland in the near future, but with events only being announced until March 4 of 2017, an event in Poland could take place.
