Katie Taylor, Artur Beterbiev To Defend Titles On October 6 DAZN Card

Matchroom Boxing USA is moving forward with its first boxing show stateside to be streamed on DAZN.

As part of several announcements made in a New York press conference, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn said the first DAZN boxing card in the United States will take place in Chicago on October 6. The card will feature two world title fights and an undercard loaded with top talent that recently signed with Hearn to be a part of Matchroom’s DAZN stable.

The first of the two world title fights is Katie Taylor vs. Cindy Serrano for Taylor’s unified WBA/IBF women’s lightweight titles. Of course, Taylor vs. Serrano will move forward as a world title fight provided that Taylor successfully retains her titles on the July 28 O2 Arena boxing card that is headlined by Dillian Whyte vs. Joseph Parker. Taylor will be fighting former title challenger Kimberly Connor on July 28.

The other world title fight on the card is Artur Beterbiev vs. Callum Johnson for Beterbiev’s IBF light heavyweight title. It had been previously reported that both sides had agreed to a fight deal and were going to fight in October on Chicago, but broadcast details were not known at the time. Beterbiev has not signed with Matchroom Boxing, but has agreed to at least have his next fight take place on the Matchroom Boxing USA show as Johnson is promoted by Hearn.

Other fighters announced to participate on the October 6 card are Demetrius Andrade, who is the mandatory challenger for Billy Joe Saunders’ WBO middleweight title, undefeated heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller and welterweight contender Jessie Vargas.
