Katie Taylor To Defend Unified Titles On Canelo vs. Fielding Undercard

Unified women's lightweight champion Katie Taylor is ready to close out the year with another world title defense on one of the biggest shows of the year.

Taylor will defend her IBF and WBA titles against Eva Wahlstrom at Madison Square Garden as part of the undercard for Canelo Alvarez vs. Rocky Fielding on December 15. The full card will be streamed in the United States exclusively on DAZN.

The former Olympic gold medalist will be fighting in the United States for the fourth time in her last seven bouts. Taylor won the WBA title in her seventh fight in Cardiff, Wales in 2017 when she defeated Anahi Sanchez. Taylor would go on to unify the WBA and IBF belts earlier this year when she defeated Victoria Bustos in Brooklyn, New York back in April. In her last fight, Taylor defeated former world champion Cindy Serrano on the undercard for Matchroom Boxing USA's first show stateside that was streamed on DAZN.

Wahlstrom, who has been one of the sport's longest-reigning female world champions, has held the WBC super featherweight title since 2015. Wahlstrom, who sports a 22-0-1 record as a pro, has some history with Taylor as the two boxers previously fought against each other as amateurs more than a decade ago.

The card will not only feature Alvarez vs. Fielding for the WBA "regular" super middleweight world title, but also the return of middleweight contender David Lemieux, former world champion Sadam Ali and rising contender Ryan Garcia. Fightful will have live coverage of the card.
