Khabib Nurmagomedov May Still Be Interested In Fighting Tony Ferguson

Ali Abdelaziz is the manager of UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and he recently shot down a potential bout against former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson.

Nurmagomedov is apparently still interested in the fight, which has been scheduled and canceled multiple times in the past.

A fan recently asked Nurmagomedov on Instagram about Abdelaziz’s comments and Nurmagomedov didn’t want anybody confusing the champion with the manager.

MMA Team Dagestan captured the Instagram conversation and posted in on Twitter:

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were last seen in action at UFC 229, with Ferguson defeating former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis at the event, while Nurmagomedov captured the UFC Lightweight Title by defeating Al Iaquinta.

The former interim lightweight champion is ranked #1 in the UFC Lightweight Division rankings, meaning he should be next in line for a title shot.

It could be awhile before Nurmagomedov fights anybody, as the fighter and former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor are still awaiting punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for their roles in the post-fight brawl at UFC 229.
