Khabib Nurmagomedov Willing To Fight Eddie Alvarez Or Dustin Poirier If McGregor & GSP Are Unavailable

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is done observing Ramadan, which means that the title holder is ready to defend the strap.

Nurmagomedov is willing to defend the gold against UFC On Fox 30 headliners Dustin Poirier or Eddie Alvarez, but that’s only if Georges St. Pierre and Conor McGregor aren’t available.

Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler Officially Announced For UFC 303, Will Take Place At Welterweight

“If not Conor, if not GSP, I think Alvarez vs. Poirier, I think the winner deserves a title shot,” Nurmagomedov told Anatomy Of A Fighter.

While Poirier and Alvarez are headlining the aforementioned UFC On Fox 30 card, former two division UFC champion GSP hasn’t fought since UFC 217 and another two division UFC champion in McGregor hasn’t competed since UFC 205.

The lightweight champion is also willing to fight Tony Ferguson, assuming the former interim lightweight champion is healthy.

“About Tony Ferguson, I don’t know,” Nurmagomedov said. “He just had surgery. If he can, why not? Tony Ferguson is biggest match-up for me. This match what I want, what people want, what fans want but I don’t know about his healthy. If he’s ready, let’s go. Why not? I’m ready for September, I’m ready for October, I’m training all the time. I’m here to defend my title. If the UFC gives me any opponent, I’m ready for this, to beat this guy.”

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were supposed to fight multiple times under the UFC banner, but each fight fell apart due to injuries or bad weight cuts.
