At long last, Chan Sung Jung is making his UFC return.
A former UFC Featherweight title challenger, "The Korean Zombie" last competed in 2013. During his UFC 163 title fight with Jose Aldo, Jung suffered a dislocated shoulder. Over a year later in October 2014. he was forced to withdraw from a fight with Akira Corassani at UFC Fight Night 53.
Following that 14 month period of inactivity, TKZ announced that he would begin his mandatory military service period of two years for his home country of South Korea.
The 13-4 Jung will take on #8-ranked Dennis Bermudez (17-5) in the main event of February 4's Fight Night event, per Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting. By the time he reaches the cage, Jung will have had a 41 month layoff from the sport of mixed martial arts.
Bermudez is riding a two fight winning streak and holds victories over Tatsuya Kawajiri, Clay Guida, and Max Holloway.
The UFC's Fight Night event in Houston will take place at the Toyota Center the night before the Super Bowl. Fox is broadcasting the Super Bowl this year, which facilitated the change.
