Kubrat Pulev vs. Bogdan Dinu Announced As ESPN Main Event For March 23

Kubrat Pulev's first fight as a Top Rank boxer is a main event bout on an upcoming ESPN-televised card.

Top Rank officially announced an ESPN card at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, California on March 23. The main event features Pulev, the No. 1 contender for the IBF heavyweight title, taking on Bogdan Dinu.

Pulev, who signed with Top Rank last December, was supposed to get a shot at Anthony Joshua's WBA and IBF heavyweight titles in 2017 as the two were scheduled to headline a boxing card in Cardiff, Wales. Pulev then suffered an injury weeks before the fight would take place and withdrew from the fight. Since then, Pulev has battled back to get in position to challenge for a world title by defeating Hughie Fury last October to once again become the mandatory challenger to Joshua's IBF title.

The co-main event of the ESPN card is a featherweight bout between former world champion Jessie Magdaleno and Rico Ramos. This will be Magdaleno's first fight since losing his WBO super bantamweight title to Isaac Dogboe back in April 2018. Ramos, a former world title challenger, is currently on a six-fight win streak.

A number of undercard fights have been announced for the ESPN+ stream that will lead in to the ESPN-televised card:

  • Maxim Dadashev vs. Ricky Sismundo
  • Javier Molina vs. Abdiel Ramirez
  • Erick De Leon vs. Jose Luis Gallegos
