Kyoji Horiguchi Faces Hiromasa Ogikubo In Rizin 11 Main Event

The main event has been set for the Rizin 11 card and its going to be a catchweight division rematch as UFC veteran Kyoji Horiguchi will again take on Hiromasa Ogikubo.

Horiguchi (24-2-0) enters the contest on the strength of a nine fight winning streak, last defeating fellow UFC veteran Ian McCall at Rizin 10. Horiguchi also won the Rizin Bantamweight World Grand Prix, defeating Shintaro Ishiwatari in the finals by second round knockout. Horiguchi has previously challenged for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing to Demetrious Johnson by fifth round submission at UFC 186.

Ogikubo (17-3-2) is going to be making his Rizin debut in this fight, but he was a finalist on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24. Ogikubo lost to Horiguchi in their first encounter at Shooto Second Round 2013, with that loss coming by way of second round submission. Ogikubo is also the current Shooto Flyweight Champion, defeating Masaaki Sugawara by fifth round submission to claim the gold in April of 2016.

Also announced for the card is Bellator MMA and UFC veteran Mirko Cro Cop, although an opponent has yet to be named.

Rizin 11 takes place on Sunday, July 29 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with Kyoji Horiguchi and Hiromasa Ogikubo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on Fite TV.
