Premier Boxing Champions? latest Fox card once again drew more than a million viewers.
The February 16 card from Los Angeles, headlined by Leo Santa Cruz vs. Rafael Rivera for the WBA featherweight title, averaged 1.376 million viewers throughout the entire telecast. The show also drew in a 0.90 household rating.
In the 18-49 demographic, the show only drew a 0.3 rating. The show ran for a little more than two hours starting at 8 p.m. ET and the first hour averaged 1.211 million viewers while the second hour averaged 1.303 million viewers. The card was taking place at the same time as the second day of the NBA All-Star Weekend, which featured the Slam Dunk Contest, as well as a college basketball game between Kentucky and Tennessee aired on ESPN. NBA All-Star Saturday, which aired on TNT, averaged 5.018 million viewers, while the ESPN broadcast averaged 3.009 million viewers.
Those numbers are down from Fox?s last two boxing cards, both of which took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The January 26 PBC on Fox card averaged 1.98 million viewers and drew a 1.27 household rating, which are very similar numbers to the December 22, 2018 PBC on Fox card (1.971 million viewers/1.26 rating).
Santa Cruz dominated Rivera throughout 12 rounds, throwing more than 1,200 punches en route to a wide unanimous decision victory. It was Santa Cruz?s third title defense of the WBA?s ?Super? version of the world featherweight title. In the co-main event, Omar Figueroa Jr. won a 10-round decision to defeat John Molina Jr.
PBC?s next boxing card on Fox will take place on March 9 in Carson, California. That card will be headlined by Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas for the WBC welterweight title.
