Mackenzie Dern Wants 2 UFC Titles

MMA

Mackenzie Dern is one of the most accomplished female Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of all time. Now that she has begun her transition into MMA, the big goal is to hold two UFC championships at once.

"I?ll try to follow (Conor) McGregor?s footsteps,? Dern told MMA Fighting. "The best in the world always have goals to achieve. I think that if the UFC has a 125-pound division, I?d like to fight in that division too, see if I feel good there. But I think that my height is for 115. But I need to get used to keeping my weight closer to 115. My body is different than the other strawweights."

Dern currently holds a 3-0-0 record as a professional MMA fighter. The undefeated fighter does feel like she got into the sport at the right time.

"I don?t think about fighting MMA for many years,? she said. "I don?t feel like doing like Miesha Tate, who fought MMA for 15 years, getting punched in the face. I entered MMA in the right time. I?m young. I?ll never be able to leave jiu-jitsu. I feel that one day, when I conquer everything I want in MMA, jiu-jitsu will be there for me to come back and inspire the young generation. That?s why I made this transition to MMA now. It?s the right time. Do MMA for five or six years and I?ll be fine."

Those three wins that Dern has earned in her professional MMA career came over Kenia Rosas, Montana Stewart and Katherine Roy. The most recent win came over Katherine Roy by decision at Legacy Fighting Alliance 6 last weekend.
