Robberies are an unfortunate aspect of everyday life throughout the world, but there are plenty of occasions where they backfire and this story is one of those.

According to Fox 11, a man recently entered Defiant MMA & Fitness in Burbank, California with a gun in an attempt to rob the joint.

The gun was pulled an an MMA instructor and amateur MMA fighter named Jacobe Powell, that was a mist because Powell quickly knocked the gun out of the man’s hands before taking him down until the authorities arrived.

Powell must have bloodied the man up pretty good because when police arrived, they arrested a bloodied and beaten man for his robbery attempt.

“My instincts kicked in. I used my judo training to go ahead and subdue him, got the weapon away from him before the cops arrived. One of my guys who was here training called the police and I just subdued him until the police showed up,” Powell said to Fox 11.

Below is a video from a Fox 11 news report that shows the bloodied suspect being held by the cops:

There is no word yet on what kind of penalties the robbery suspect will get for his crime.
