Manny Pacquiao Abandons Fight With Jeff Horn, Says He Came To Terms With New Opponent

Remember when Manny Pacquiao was supposed to fight unknown prospect Jeff Horn? Well boxing fans were not happy with that fight and now it looks like they've changed Pacquiao's mind to the point he'll fight Amir Khan.

Pacquiao held a Twitter poll on who should he fight next and Khan won the poll, getting Pacquiao and his team to abandon the fight with Horn, which was originally scheduled for April. Pacquiao and Khan reportedly agreed to terms with the fight, rtentatively scheduled for April 23. Pacquiao and Khan made the announcement on Twitter.

More than 44,000 people voted in Pacquiao's poll with Khan easily winning with 48 percent of the votes. Kell Brook and Terence Crawford followed with 24 and 21 percent, respectively. Horn only got the remaining seven percent.

There has been no official announcement outside of the two boxers saying a fight is agreed for April, and there has been no venue set. According to ESPN sources, it looks like the fight will likely happen in the United Arab Emirates.

"We're still talking and it could be Abu Dhabi or Dubai," the source said. "We're confident it gets done. It's a short turnaround to the date but hopefully it will get agreed this week."

Pacquiao outpointed Jessie Vargas to reclaim the WBO welterweight world title on November 5 in Las Vegas. Pacquiao is boxing's only eight-division world titleholder. Khan has not fought since last May when he was knocked out by Canelo Alvarez.
