The vacant Cage Warriors welterweight title will get a new owner at Cage Warriors 116 as Cage Warriors lightweight champion Mason Jones faces Adam Proctor.
Jones (9-0-0) became the Cage Warriors lightweight champion at Cage Warriors 113, defeating Joe McColgan by first round knockout. Jones has spent the majority of his professional MMA career in Cage Warriors, as eight of his nine pro MMA fights took place there. Jones can also become the first fighter since Conor McGregor to hold two titles in two different weight classes in the Cage Warriors promotion.
Proctor (12-1-0) enters the contest riding a seven fight winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in almost four years. Proctor has won three of four in Cage Warriors, with those wins coming over Angelo Rubino, Olli Santalahti and Madars Bertholds-Fleminas. Proctor has picked up seven of his 12 professional MMA wins by decision, while the rest came by way of submission.
Cage Warriors 116 takes place on Saturday, September 26 from the BEC Arena in Manchester, England with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
