Maycee Barber Says Injury & Loss At UFC 246 Doesn’t Shift Her Goals

Maycee Barber competed on the preliminary card of UFC 246, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Roxanne Modafferi

Despite suffering a loss and complete ACL tear at UFC 246, one thing that won’t happen is a shift in Barber’s goals, with one of those goals being for Barber to be the youngest champion in UFC history.

”The loss has not shifted my goals in the sport at all,” Barber wrote in a prepared statement sent to MMA Fighting. “It has added more goals to the pre-existing ones. I’m still gonna be the youngest champion in UFC history.”

Barber also suffered her first loss as a professional MMA fighter at UFC 246, which is something her father didn’t react to well to after issuing his own statement on Instagram after the bout.

The fighter is set to undergo surgery within the next two weeks to fix the torn ACL, but Barber still expects to compete again by the time 2020 comes to an end.

”I am hoping to make my return and fight again by the end of 2020,” Barber wrote.

It is unknown if Barber will compete again this year, but a better time frame for her return should be known after the aforementioned surgery commences.
