McGregor’s Cornermen Confirmed For Super Fight

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is a mere few days away from his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather.

The Irish superstar may be stepping into the ring alone, but he will have four cornermen in his corner to support him throughout the fight.

Those four cornermen are going to be UFC fighter Artem Lobov, longtime coach John Kavanagh, striking coach Owen Roddy and cutman Tommy McCormack.

Lobov and McGregor have been training partners for quite awhile now. The MMA fighter’s last bout in the UFC was a unanimous decision loss to Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night 108.

Kavanagh has been McGregor’s coach since the early days of his professional MMA career and has been leading the way as the head coach during the training camp for the super fight.

Roddy is a pioneer of the Irish MMA scene and will serve as the lead cornerman, which means that he is the only of the four outside of the cutman who is allowed in the ring in between rounds.

McCormack is a veteran cutman who has worked as a cutman for a variety of combat sports like boxing, MMA and muay thai.

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
