The main event for the first Invicta FC event of 2017, Invicta FC 21, has been announced as a featherweight division fight pitting Megan Anderson against Charmaine Tweet.
Anderson (7-2-0) has won three of four fights under the Invicta FC banner, defeating Amber Leibrock, Amanda Bell and UFC veteran Peggy Morgan. Anderson’s lone loss in Invicta FC came to Cindy Dandois, who is a former training partner of former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate. The last two victories that Anderson has earned came via first round finishes, both of which came by TKO or KO.
Tweet (9-5-0) has won two of four fights under the Invicta FC banner, with those two wins coming over Latoya Walker and Veronica Rothenhausler. Tweet has previously challenged for the Invicta FC Featherweight Title, losing to current champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino at Invicta FC 11 in September 2014. Tweet made her professional MMA debut in June 2011, she suffered an arm bar submission defeat to former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.
Invicta Fighting Championships 21 takes place on January 14 from the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri with Megan Anderson and Charmaine Tweet headlining.
