A middleweight division attraction has been added to next month’s UFC On Fox 23 card as Marcos Rogerio De Lima takes on John Phillips.
De Lima (14-4-1) has won three of five fights under the UFC banner, defeating Richardson Moreira, Igor Pokrajac and Clint Hester, while suffering defeats to Nikita Krylov and Gadzhimurad Antigulov. De Lima also competed once under the Strikeforce banner, dropping a fight to Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov. De Lima will also be competing on his first UFC On Fox card, his previous bouts have been either at UFC Fight Night or UFC pay-per-view events.
Phillips (21-6-0-1NC) will be making his UFC debut in this event and does so riding a four fight winning streak. Phillips hasn’t seen any of his MMA fights go to a decision in over eight years, a streak that has lasted for a total of nineteen fights. Phillips will also be making his North American MMA debut in this fight. The majority of his previous fights took place around Europe.
UFC On Fox 23 takes place on Saturday, January 28 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado with Juliana Pena and Valentina Shevchenko headlining.
