Miesha Tate Not Shocked By Cris Cyborg Getting Knocked Out

Amanda Nunes became a two division UFC champion when she scored a first round knockout over Cyborg in the co-main event of UFC 232.

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate caught the fight and wasn’t shocked by what she saw in the Octagon on that night.

“I said, if she lands that right hand – if Cyborg doesn’t respect the fact that Amanda has enough power to knock her out, she’s going to be in trouble,” Tate told MMA Junkie Radio. “I was like, ‘Cyborg needs a strategy.’ She’s never needed a strategy in a fight.”

Tate has never fought Cyborg, but did suffer a first round submission loss to Nunes in the main event of UFC 200.

Nunes also scored a first round knockout win over current WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in the main event of UFC 207, but Tate takes some happiness in the fact that she lasted longer against Nunes than either Cyborg or Rousey.

“One of the things (my resume) has to list now is that I lasted longer than Ronda (Rousey) and Cyborg combined,” Tate said.

The now retired Tate is now an executive with One Championship, which has already run two events in 2019.
