UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is currently training to fight Floyd Mayweather in a super fight this coming August.
Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is the current UFC Flyweight Champion and he’s picking fellow UFC Champ McGregor to defeat Mayweather.
“I’m riding with Conor,” Johnson said to TMZ. “I think Conor, he can probably get it done sooner if he goes out there being ferocious, but I’m going with Conor. I think Conor’s gonna get the job done.”
Johnson himself is currently at odds with the UFC, recently speaking out against the promotion for the way he and other fighters have supposedly been treated.
The flyweight kingpin also wouldn’t mind seeing the UFC Lightweight champion box the winner of the Gennady Golovkin versus Canelo Alvarez fight.
“It’s hard to say. I’ll tell you what: he ain’t gonna make a big check like that in the UFC,” Johnson said. “Hopefully Conor goes out there and knocks Floyd out, and then he can go ahead and fight the winner of GGG and ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. I’d love to see that.”
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
