Flores even claimed that Santa Cruz might be overlooking his opponent as Santa Cruz stated he wants to have title unification fights later in 2019. Flores even went out of his way to claim that he will not only pull off the biggest upset of 2019, but that it will also be in the form of the best fight of 2019.

"It's been a long road for me. I'm going to put on a good show on February 16. Leo and his father are professionals and they'll work hard in the gym, but I have a feeling they're overlooking me," Flores said. "I'm excited to be starting off the year with this great opportunity. I'm going to give the writers an easy task, because on February 16 I'm going to give them the Upset of the Year and the Fight of the Year on the same night."

The Fox broadcast will also feature a fight between former title challenger John Molina Jr. and former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa.
