Mike Shipman Wants To Fight Ben Cartlidge

MMA

Mike Shipman competed in the co-main event of Bellator London, suffering a split decision loss to Fabian Edwards.

One of the judges that scored the bout in favor of Edwards was Ben Cartlidge and now Shipman would like to fight that judge.

“Say that name again,” Shipman said after the event (via Simon Head of MMA Junkie). “Let me get my Facebook up and see if I can find him. He doesn’t sound like it (one of the UK’s best judges)! How’s his eyesight? Ben Cartlidge … I don’t want Fabian next fight. I want Ben Cartlidge!”

It is highly unlikely that a bout pitting Shipman versus Cartlidge ever gets put together, as it would also appear that Shipman was just venting after a close loss.

Shipman is going to rewatch the fight at some point in the future, but the fighter still feels that he won the bout.

“Obviously, I need to watch it back again. I think I won the fight. But, like I said, serves me right for trying to coast that last round. I thought I had it in the bag. That’s not my style, I want to be looking to finish fights right up until the last bell. So in a way, (it) serves me right. (But) at the same time, yeah, I think I won the fight. I need to watch it again,” says Shipman.

The fighter is now in the midst of a two fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a victory in almost a year.
