Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. Will Not Have An Official Winner

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. are set to meet this Saturday Night, but whomever comes out on top won’t be getting an official win.

Boxing Scene, after a conversation with the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), learned that no CSAC judges will be working the bout since it is classified as an exhibition fight. A trio of former champions in Chad Dawson, Christy Martin and Vinny Pazienza will judge the bout remotely.

The winner of the bout will still receive the WBC Frontline Battle Belt, but their records will not change to reflect their win and/or loss. VADA will still handle the drug testing for the event, but neither fighter is being tested for marijuana since Tyson owns his own cannabis company called Tyson Ranch. The bout will get contested with 8 two minute rounds and the fighters will also be fighting while using 12 ounce gloves.

Addition rules for the exhibition encounter will see the fight stopped for bad cuts, plus both Tyson and Jones are not required to wear head gear for the bout.
