Nate Diaz Comes To The Defense Of Conor McGregor

Nate Diaz and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor have split their two fight series in the UFC, with Diaz winning at UFC 196 and McGregor winning at UFC 202.

McGregor has faced a lot of criticism from the boxing community for his upcoming super fight against Floyd Mayweather and it is Diaz who has come to the fighters defense.

“And now all the boxers are criticizing Conor like ‘Conor will get embarrassed’, but that’s a real arrogant thing to say,” Diaz said on The MMA Hour. “Wanna know something that’s even more embarrassing? Is if Floyd fought Conor in a MMA match. Would be more embarrassing than if Conor fought Floyd in a boxing match. [Floyd] would get mounted and laughed at, and slapped around [and Conor] would smile at the crowd and wave.”

Diaz hasn’t fought since the UFC 202 bout against McGregor and UFC President Dana White has previously stated that he doesn’t expect him to fight ever again.

The Stockton native would even go as far as to say a lot of the boxer today are nothing but clowns.

“Boxers are clowns sometimes now,” Diaz said. “I’m never taking the MMA fighters over the boxer’s side when it comes to punching and shit, but I’m like don’t be talking shit. [They say MMA fighter’s] ‘would get embarrassed, it’s ridiculous’ yeah, but we’re talking real fighting now you one-dimensional boxing fucks. This is real life shit, you’ll get embarrassed.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
