Fans who were planning on tuning into UFC Fight Night 99 tomorrow afternoon to see a bout between Neil Seery and Ian McCall are going to be disappointed as McCall has pulled out of the fight before weighing in due to an illness.
McCall says he is “disgusted” upon hearing the news that his retirement fight against Mccall won’t be taking place.
“I nearly burst out crying, to tell you the truth,” Seery told MMA Junkie. “I was so upset. There’s nothing I can do. Me giving out about it and crying isn’t going to change the fact that I’m not fighting tomorrow. I’m going to go home, I’m going to sit down with my wife and basically see what’s next. Nothing I say is going to change a thing – it’s disappointing. I’m, disgusted really. To be honest, I don’t even know if I’m going to go to the show. It’s happened to me before when I fought for a previous promotion. It was the exact same thing, and I stood on the scales and I went to the show and it’s just heartbreaking watching everyone else do that walk. I put a hell of a lot into this. I was offered the fight probably 10 weeks ago and I put everything on hold.”
Seery, while his retirement fight has been pulled for now, is still planning to step into the octagon once more before calling it a career.
“One-hundred percent, (I want to fight). I don’t think I’m going to go out like this,” Seery said. “I had a lot of support coming up from Dublin. I had a fantastic training camp, I felt really good, I made the 126 (pounds) like I always do.”
UFC Fight Night 99 takes place on Saturday, November 19 from the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland with Gegard Mousasi and Uriah hall headlining.
