There are more additions to this month’s Bellator 171 card as Jarod Trice faces Kevin Woltkamp, Tyrell Fortune faces Will Johnson and Bruna Ellen faces Carmella James.
Trice (1-0-0) made his professional MMA debut in 2016 at Bellator 167, where he defeated Tommie Britton by majority decision. Trice has no amateur MMA experience to speak off, but he does have plenty of experience as an amateur wrestler.
Woltkamp (1-2-0) will be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and none of his fights have gone past the opening round. Woltkamp also spent his entire professional MMA career under the Shamrock FC banner, where he defeated David Hammons at Shamrock FC 280.
Fortune (1-0-0) made his professional MMA debut in 2016, where he wound up defeating Cody Miskell by first round TKO. Fortune has no amateur MMA experience at all, but he is one of top ranked NCAA Amateur Wrestlers to ever enter MMA.
Johnson (0-0-0) will not only be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight, but he will be making his professional MMA debut as well. Johnson did go undefeated as an amateur fighter, defeating Lorenzo Serna at Ultimate Blue Corner Battles.
Ellen (2-1-0) is currently winless under the Bellator MMA banner, having dropped a fight to Jessica Middleton at Bellator 159. Ellen is also a veteran of the Max Fights promotion, where she holds victories over the duo of Elen Torres and Pamela Mara.
James (3-0-0) will be making her Bellator MMA debut in this fight, but she is the current Sugar Creek Showdown Women’s Strawweight Champion. James made her professional MMA debut in 2016 and she fought a total of eleven rounds in that year.
Bellator 171 takes place on Friday, January 27 from the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas with Melvin Guillard and Chidi Njokuani headlining.
