Adrien Broner Rejects Three-Fight, $6.75 Million "Slave Deal" To Join Matchroom Boxing USA

Adrien Broner has publicly called out Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn for being offered what he believes is a "slave deal" to join Matchroom Boxing USA as the company is looking to fill its roster for the start of an eight-year streaming deal with Perform Group's DAZN streaming service.

After Broner wrote on his Instagram that he wanted to negotiate with Hearn, Broner put up a screenshot of an offer to join Matchroom Boxing USA and have him fight three times from September 2018-September 2019. The deal also gives Broner a guaranteed $2 million purse in each fight, totaling $6.75 million in purse money in those three fights.

In the post, Broner called it a "slave deal" and lower than the five-year, $40 million deal Roc Nation offered Broner a few years back, which Broner also rejected.

Broner has not won a fight since defeating Adrian Granados on Showtime. In his last two fights, both main event bouts on Showtime, Broner lost to Mikey Garcia and fought Jessie Vargas to a draw. Broner's purse in each of those two past fights were $1 million, but in a Twitter post, Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza seemed to indicate Broner's final payout in those fights are higher than the money offered to him by Hearn.

Hearn has claimed he is talking to a number of top boxers in the United States as he tries to get the roster ready for the first Matchroom Boxing USA show streamed on DAZN. Matchroom Boxing and Perform Group recently announced an eight-year, $1 billion partnership to have DAZN stream 16 Matchroom Boxing USA shows per year. DAZN will be available in the United States later this year.

Broner's next fight will most likely be against Vargas again as WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman recently said he would issue an order to have the two fight in a welterweight title eliminator.
