Exclusive: Badou Jack Planning To Make A Statement By Beating Marcus Browne

Badou Jack has been a part of many big fights, but has also experienced his fair share of fights end in what he deemed unfair judging.

In the last couple of years, Jack has had world title fights against Lucian Bute, James DeGale and Adonis Stevenson end in a draw. Only the Bute fight was eventually overturned to a win for Jack after Bute failed a drug test, but it still stands that Jack and decisions in title fights going his way do not exactly miss.

That’s why Jack is looking to make a statement in his next fight against Marcus Browne on January 19. The two are set to fight for the interim WBA light heavyweight title and Jack recently told Fightful in a conference call that he hopes to take the judges out of the equation.

“I can’t really complain about the judges in all those fight, but in those fights, I landed 100 more punches than my opponent. Not only that, but I came out the same fighter as I went to. I just got to go out there and make a statement. [The judges] out there are doing me no favors, but it’s a boxing business,” Jack said.

Jack and Browne will be fighting in a bout between what many consider the two best light heavyweights who do not hold titles. But if you ask Jack, it’s hard to say the winner of this fight can make the claim that he is the best boxer in the world at 175 pounds.

“I don’t know, but there are four champions ahead of me, so beating Browne doesn’t really make me No. 1. I thought I beat Stevenson and he was the lineal champion. I don’t really focus on that. I’m just focusing on my fight,” Jack said.

The fight between Jack and Broner will be the co-main event of the January 19 Showtime pay-per-view card that will be headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrien Broner for the WBA “Regular” welterweight title.
